"They will soar up on wings like eagles." (Isaiah 40:31) In the Old Testament, the Lord's guidance and protection is often symbolized by the work of eagles (In Exodus 19:4, salvation; Deuteronomy 32:11, protection; Psalms 103:5, healing.). Isaiah repeatedly writes "tired" and "weary" even with the young. It well depicts the "status quo" of our daily lives.
Japan is the number one country for longevity in the world. On the other hand, it also has the greatest number of ailing, bed-ridden elderly. It was quoted in a Japanese newspaper that the "Japanese elderly, before they get to heaven, will experience certain hell" in their old age. Another statistic showed that the suicide rate in Japan for the young and middle aged has surpassed 3800 people. However, this number does not include those who survive the attempt but pass away a few days later. Including these, some speculate that the number of suicide is 10 times that number.
Now, more than ever, believe in the Lord Jesus. With the power of the Holy Spirit, we can face life like an eagle rising above the heavens. As the jumbo jet takes off against the wind, we must face the coming winds of life, extend our wings and rise up.
For those who are in Him, adversity or "going against the wind" can be the power that God uses to lift us up.

---- Ministry News ----
8/1-4 - Rev. Nakano traveled to Milan, Italy. He preached at the European Japanese Christian Church Conference and participated at Pastor Uchimura's ordination ceremony.
8/5-7 - Rev. Nakano preached at two meetings in Eindhoven in the southern region of the Netherlands. His messages were translated. On Sunday afternoon, Rev. Nakano preached at a service in Amsterdam.
8/9-20 - Rev. Nakano returned to Japan and preached at Yamato Calvary Chapel, ITCN, and Akabane Church. Meiko held a Hula Workshop in Karuizawa and a Hawaiian Night Reiko Uehara Concert (see picture on other side).
September - For the first 10 days, Rev. Nakano traveled with his eldest daughter, Sayaka Nakano to Sacramento, Fresno, Camarillo Springs, San Lorenzo and El Sobrante (California) in partnership with JEMS. Rev. Nakano preached at Reaching Japanese for Christ (RJC) Conference where Sayaka translated to Americans who want to evangelize to Japanese. (See letter attached.)
9/10 - Rev. Nakano continued on to Michigan state to Detroit, Ann Arbor and Grand Rapids, then to South Carolina and North Carolina. He preached at many home meetings and services. There were many Japanese students in the Carolinas and in Charlotte, N.C. he preached at a church that held their very first service in Japanese!
9/17 - Rev. Nakano traveled to Vancouver, Canada. Many people were saved and baptized at the Mennonite Church in Surrey and the Vancouver Gospel Church.
9/20 - Rev. Nakano flew back to the U.S. to Washington state and the cities of Tacoma, Seattle and Issaquah (where he visited a church on someone's own backyard!). At the Tacoma Japanese Church, their current chapel was so small that everyone could not fit. So, please pray for them as they are endeavoring to build a new chapel.
9/22 - In Lynnwood (south of Seattle), Rev. Nakano preached at an evening service and a Sunday morning service. Many Japanese wives bring their American husbands along to church there (this is also true of the church in Tacoma) so every service was translated into English.
October - Rev. Nakano is traveling in Japan.
